A sneak peek into MOCA Art Museum
MOCA was built in 2012 by Mr.Boonchai Bencharongkul – a reputable art collector to showcase Thai artists’ creativity, beliefs, and personalities that are embedded into arts.
In fact, Mr. Boonchai’s primary motivation for constructing this museum was to honor Professor Silpa Bhirasri, the “Father of Thai Contemporary Arts,” and to commemorate and cherish King Rama 9’s tremendous favor.
At this enormous 20,000 square meters of exhibition space with five levels, MOCA boasts over 800 works of art, ranging from paintings and sculptures to artists collaborating installations and video motion art. The first four floors are dedicated to Thai artists’ works, while the fifth floor showcases those from international artists such as China, Vietnam, Malaysia, Japan, Russia, Italy, Norway, and the USA.
MOCA is an art itself! Designed by Thai architect Duangrit Bunnaghe, MOCA captures people’s hearts with its striking white exterior and sharp, angular lines that create a sleek modernist look to the whole building.
MOCA has permanent art exhibitions across 5 levels. While you can also explore a variety of temporary exhibitions throughout the year, each exploring a specific theme or showcasing the works of a particular artist.
