The Imperial City of Hue, known as Kinh Thành Huế in Vietnamese, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with majestic structures surrounded by a massive wall, approximately 10 kilometers in length.  Serving as the political and cultural center of the Nguyen Dynasty from 1802 to 1945, the complex is one of the most significant historical landmarks in Vietnam. 

 

Minh Mang Mausoleum

The Minh Mang Mausoleum, located just outside Hue, Vietnam, is one of the most impressive royal tombs of the Nguyen Dynasty. Khai Dinh Tomb or Ung mausoleum

Located approximately 10 kilometers away from the heart of Hue, Khai Dinh Tomb is dedicated to Emperor Khai Dinh, who reigned from 1916 to 1925. The tomb showcases a fusion of traditional Vietnamese architecture with European elements, particularly Baroque and Roman styles. This eclectic design reflects the emperor’s desire to modernize while honoring his heritage. You must visit the main hall which is located on a hillside to enjoy a panoramic view of the surrounding landscapes.

 

Kien Trung Palace

Situated at the heart of the city center, Kien Trung Palace has been open to visitors since January 2024 after five years of renovation, restoration, and embellishment. Built in 1923 during the reign of King Khải Định, this beautifully restored site offers a glimpse into the grandeur of the Nguyen Dynasty, showcasing exquisite architecture and intricate designs that reflect the rich cultural heritage of Hue and also influences from French, and Italian style.

 

An Dinh Palace

Built in 1917, An Dinh Palace is a unique architectural gem associated with several late Nguyen emperors.
